私たちの父、三石 敏雄について
私たちの父 三石 敏雄は、第二次世界大戦中の混乱期で生まれ育ち、多忙を極めた人で、出版業界で尊敬されるビジネスマンでした。父 敏雄と母 圭子は、東京で働いている時に出会い、母はとても献身的に生涯父を支え続けました。1970年、敏雄は転勤によって、アメリカ合衆国カリフォルニア州ロサンゼルス市に移住しました。そして、1975年にアメリカ合衆国に留まることを決意し、USジャパンビジネスニュース社を立ち上げました。そこで出版されたジャパンビジネスニュースは、初めてアメリカ全土に広がった日本語の経済新聞です。敏雄は23年間、出版業界のパイオニアとして会社の舵を取りました。

USジャパンビジネスニュース社をリタイア後、敏雄はコンピューターの使い方に没頭し、ソーシャルメディア（例えば Mixi や Facebook ）を駆使して世界中の友人とコミュニケーションをとっていました。また敏雄は、家庭菜園も楽しんでおり、庭で野菜を育てては、家族やモンテベロ市の自宅を訪れた友人に特製の「野菜ジュース」を振る舞っておりました。そして友人達と、毎週水曜に「水曜会」というランチ会を楽しみ、モンテベロ市のゴルフコースでゴルフをしたり、日々の情報交換を楽しんでいました。そのおかげで敏雄は、健康な身体と精神状態を保つ事が出来ていました。
また敏雄は三人の孫、ライアン、ジェイレーン、カイリーとよく一緒に湯船に浸かり会話を楽しんでいました。しかし、2016年7月に妻 圭子が突然の死に見舞われた後は、深い悲しみに打ちひしがれ、たびたび妻の元へ自らも早く行きたいと願うようになりました。そして2020年11月1日、健康状態の悪化により、穏やかにそして眠る様に妻の元へ旅立ちました。
私たち家族は、父 敏雄が英語も儘ならないまま、日本人移民としてアメリカへ移り住み、家族への思いやりのあるサポートとともに、他の多くの日本人移民がアメリカで成功を収めたり、より良い生活環境を手に入れるためのサポートをし続けた、その功績を誇りに思います。私たちは父と一緒にいることで、彼の傾倒や献身的な姿勢を学びました。そして彼の教えである「自分が本当に情熱を持てるものに対して常にベストを尽くす」という言葉を決して忘れません。これからの日々も父を敬い、常に彼の教えを胸に生きていきたいと思います。

Our father, Toshio Mitsuishi, was a very hard working and respected businessman in the publishing world. He grew up during the tough times of the World War in Japan. While working in Tokyo, he met our mother, Keiko, who was very devoted to her husband and supported all his endeavors. In 1970, his work took him to Los Angeles, California but eventually he decided that he wanted to stay in the U.S. and started U.S. Japan Business News in 1975, the first Japanese language nationwide newspaper in the U.S. which he operated successfully for 23 years as a pioneer in the publishing industry.
After his retirement, he dedicated himself to learning how to use the computer and use social media sites such as Mixi and Facebook to stay in touch with his friends around the world. He also enjoyed his vegetable garden and would make "yasai juice" every morning for family or guests staying at his home in Montebello, California. He also helped found "Suiyoukai" with his friends and they would meet every Wednesday at Montebello Golf Course for lunch and a round of golf which kept him sharp in body and mind.
In July, 2016, an unfortunate health issue took his wife Keiko from this world and for the following years, he had much sorrow in his heart from this loss. He wished often to reunite with our mother and due to his own health complications, he passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 1, 2020 to rejoin our mother.
We are very grateful to our father for everything he had done to support our family in a very tough environment of coming to the U.S. as an immigrant with no English skills yet was able to create a successful business which helped and launched the careers and supported the livelihood of many other Japanese immigrants here in the U.S. We learned about his commitment and dedication just being around him and remember his words of advice to always do the best you can in what you are really passionate about. And to this day, we want to honor him by living by those words.
